Christoph Goebel
Cello
I play the Arcus bow for 6 month now, alternating with my very good old Neudoerfer. Initially I expected the bow would not draw the same quality of tone I was used to with my wooden bow, because of the lighter weight and the unusual material. But after testing it in different acoustical situations I found the Arcus bow sounds even more clear and loud, very soft and warm and also needs less force to play it. I still use my traditional bow, but ever more often I play with the unusual new one.
Before I learned about the Arcus bows I thought new materials could never take over from the centuries old tradition of wooden bows, but my Concerto bow convinced me that it is possible indeed.
